Works Description

The objective of remediation is to protect human health and the environment by either: removal of the contamination source; or breakage of contamination pathways.

A site-wide turnover of the full thickness of made ground was completed to ensure removal of all obstructions and identification of any areas of grossly contaminated soils.

Turnover was undertaken in a logical clear manner, working in linear panels, exposing the level of the natural ground below, this was accurately recorded by EDRs engineer and a survey issued. Where significant obstructions were removed (eg basements, relict foundations etc), the resultant excavations were accurately surveyed prior to backfilling with appropriate compaction. All information provided help to design the piling specification.

Finished levels and earthworks ensured that site levels were left 500mm below proposed landscaped areas to allow for placement of clean soil cover. Finished levels need to account for proposed road build up beneath access roads and proposed installed pile mat beneath building footprints.
